Finally got some time to work on the Zuma and pull apart the panels to get to the engine. Unlike the Ruckus you have to take off panel after panel to get even a glimpse of the 2 stroke. After that it’s pretty easy, getting to the engine requires the removal of a bunch of phillip screws and 10mm bolts, once those are off the cylinder is held together by only 4-10mm bolts. Unscrew those and this is what you have. After this you pop out the wrist pin on one side, slide out the pin, and remove the piston. Then take the new big bore piston (70cc), put it on, slide the new cylinder and head back on and your done. Pretty much an engine swap in 90 minutes or less cant get better than that.
If you are into drifting, you got to watch this video… This guy won D1GP this past year and well its no wonder why, just watch a minute or so into the video where they show him drift the first turn from outside the car… Sickest drift I have ever seen, he is probably more than 90 degrees perpendicular to the track… BONZAI!
Well I got these parts last week, from Steven [Killer Scooter] @ his GoFastGarage, which is funny since he says, “Scooters come in slow and go out fast!”. Anyways he finally got my 80cc 2Fast4Race 80cc Big Bore Kit. I sort of regret buying this since its bank and well very hardcore, but I guess the whole “hard to find/exclusive/Mugen-like” aura compelled me to do so… At the same time, I was about to buy a Polini variator but then Steven convinced me to buy another 70cc Big Bore Kit [Stage6] for a quick install for instant power. So before I was buying one kit for the Zuma and now ended up leaving with 2 kits for the same scooter. Dios Mio! Stay tuned for more info, but just to give you an idea, the 2Fast4Race kit is worth about 7 Stage6 kits.
Problem with knowing how to use a wrench or two, whether it be cars or scooters is that everytime something goes wrong with my mom’s ride or a friends ride, I usually get the call. Case in point, I get a call like at 7:30am yesterday and who shows up on the iPhone? My moms face… Its never good when she calls this early since AM’s are like hell for me… “Ah-cer [Art] I have a flat tire…”
